powerTEC

PowerTEC is a specially formulated thermal enhancement compound that can be mixed with Thermal Grout Lite or Thermal Grout Select to achieve thermal conductivities beyond those attainable when mixed with silica sand alone. PowerTEC can also be used as a replacement for silica sand to reduce the amount of material required at the job site compared to traditional thermal grout mixes (from 0.88 to 1.20 Btu/hr·ft·°F).

Possible Uses

  • Horizontal boring applications where use of silica sand needs to be eliminated.
  • Residential geothermal loopfield installations where space is limited and the reduction of total material on-site is beneficial.
  • Commercial ground heat exchange designs where thermal conductivities above 1.20 Btu/hr·ft·°F are required.

Benefits

  • Capable of achieving a thermal conductivities up to 1.60 Btu/hr·ft·°F when mixed with silica sand.
  • Reduces or eliminates the need for silica sand on the jobsite for project requiring thermal conductivities up to 1.20 Btu/hr·ft·°F.
  • Lower viscosity and self-lubricating nature decreases wear on grouting equipment.
  • Decreases formation losses in fractured and porous formations as compared to traditional thermal grout mixes.
  • Reduces total freight cost for a project by decreasing the required amount of dry material.
  • NSF/ANSI Standard 60 Certified to not contribute contaminants to
drinking water that could cause adverse health effects when mixed with TG Lite or TG Select.
  • Provides significant savings over premixed high thermal conductivity grouts.*

*NOTE: GeoPro does not offer a premixed thermal grout.

Things to Consider

Unless sand and its associated freight costs are high, PowerTEC will typically be more expensive than standard Thermal Grout mixes for values between 0.88 and 1.20Btu/hr·ft·°F. PowerTEC is a specialty product and availability may be limited.

Shipping Info

PowerTEC is shipped on heat shrunk 50 bag pallets. The number of pallets per truck may vary by carrier but is typically 18 pallets/truckload for a total of 900 bags.

NOTE: Heat shrinking is not meant as a water proofing measure, pallets should not be left exposed to the elements.
